Corten Steel Plates
Corten Steel is a high-strength weathering steel, often referred to in industrial specifications as Cor 10. This unique alloy is engineered to develop a stable, rust-like “patina” when exposed to the elements, which acts as a self-protecting barrier. Jitu Milan Steels supplies this material in various forms, including plates, coils, and structural sections, adhering to equivalent standards such as ASTM A588, A242, and A606-4.
The primary advantage of Corten Steel is its exceptional atmospheric corrosion resistance, allowing it to be used without paint or external coatings. This “self-healing” property not only creates a distinct brown-orange aesthetic but also significantly reduces long-term maintenance and recoating costs. Its high structural integrity makes it ideal for bridges, storage tanks, exhaust systems, and architectural frames where durability and a natural finish are essential.
